About Hive Words
Hive Words is a daily word puzzle built around a honeycomb of seven letters. One letter sits in the centre, six more surround it, and your job is to find every word you can that is four letters or longer and uses the centre letter. Letters can be used as many times as you like, so a word such as ALLOW or TOTAL is fair game as long as every letter is on the hive and the centre letter is in there somewhere.
Each day brings a brand new hive, and every hive hides at least one special word that uses all seven letters. Spot it and you earn a big bonus and a burst of confetti. Short words score a point or two, longer words score much more, and your score climbs through our own ladder of ranks, from Egg and Grub through Forager, Builder and Honey Keeper all the way up to Full Comb, which means you found every word on the board.
The game is easy to start. Tap the letters to spell a word, press Enter, and watch it fly into your list. If you get stuck, shuffle the outer letters for a fresh view, which often shakes a word loose, or spend a nectar coin on a hint. A hint shows the first two letters of a word you have not found yet, with dots for the rest, so you still get the fun of finishing it yourself. You start with three coins and earn more by climbing the ranks or by watching a short optional ad.
The daily hive is the same for everyone, so you can compare notes with friends. Reach the Forager rank and the day counts towards your streak, and your streak is saved on this device and in your account when you are signed in. Tomorrow you can open Yesterday to see every word of the last hive, including the ones you missed. When you want more, switch to Practice for a fresh board whenever you like, with a hint button and a Show answers button for when you are curious.
Every word list in Hive Words is checked to be clean, common and family friendly: no slurs, no obscure oddities and no proper nouns. US and UK spellings both count, so colour and color both score. Boards are made in advance, so the game loads fast and plays smoothly on any phone, and it works with touch, mouse and keyboard. Press Esc to pause and F2 to mute. Pop in for two minutes over coffee, or stay for the whole comb.
How to play
Tap the letters to spell a word of four or more letters, then press Enter. Every word must include the centre letter (the pink one). Letters can repeat. Find the hive's big word that uses all seven letters for a bonus. Shuffle swaps the outer letters, Delete removes the last one, and the nectar drop spends a coin to reveal the first two letters of a word. On a keyboard, type letters, press Enter to submit, Backspace to delete and Space to shuffle. Esc pauses and F2 mutes.

FAQ
- How do I score points?
- Words of 4, 5 and 6 letters score 1, 2 and 3 points, and longer words score more. A word that uses all seven letters adds a 7-point bonus.
- When does the daily hive change?
- A new hive arrives at midnight UTC. Open Yesterday to see all the words of the previous hive.
- Do both US and UK spellings count?
- Yes. Words such as colour and color, or centre and center, are both accepted when they are on the hive.
- What is a nectar coin?
- A coin spends one hint, which shows the first two letters of a word you have not found. You start with three, earn more by reaching the Builder rank, and can watch an optional ad for another.
- How does the streak work?
- Reach the Forager rank on the daily hive and the day counts. Play again on consecutive days to keep the streak going.
- Is my progress saved?
- Yes. Your words, stats and streak are saved on this device, and to your account when you are signed in.
