About Word Search Daily
Word Search Daily is a cosy, paper-craft word search with a twist: nothing in the grid is filler. Every letter belongs to one of the hidden theme words, and the few letters that are left over spell a secret word that you unscramble at the end. Each puzzle has a theme such as Tea time, Under the sea, Rocket launch or Lantern night, and a list of seven to twelve words to find. Press on a letter and drag in a straight line to the last letter of a word. Your selection snaps to the eight directions and forgives a wobbly finger, so you can play comfortably on a phone, with a mouse or with the keyboard. A found word gets a coloured paper band and drops into your list with a chime.
There are two ways to play. The Daily puzzle is a fresh themed grid every day that is identical for everyone, with a streak to keep alive and a calendar of the days you have played. The Theme trail has sixty hand-written themes in twelve packs of five, from Kitchen and Ocean to Workshop and Festivals. It starts with a gentle seven-by-seven grid where words run right, down and diagonally forward, and grows into an eight-by-eight grid with words that run in all eight directions, backwards included, and cross each other.
Watch for bonus words. Any real word of four or more letters that you trace along a line, even one that is not on the list, pays a hint coin and adds to your lifetime word album. Coins buy hints: a Spark lights the first letter of a missing word, an Arrow also shows the direction, and Reveal bands a whole word for you. When every theme word is found, the leftover cells light up and the secret word is yours to unscramble from a rack of letters. Guess it for a big bonus, or tap reveal if you are stuck.
Tips: start with the long words, because they are easiest to spot and they cut the grid down. Scan for rare letters such as Z, X and Q. Look backwards and diagonally on harder grids. Words found within six seconds of each other earn a quick-find bonus, and finishing without hints is worth an extra two hundred points. Your progress is saved on this device, and scores can be submitted to the daily and trail leaderboards when you are signed in. A puzzle takes two to five minutes, which makes Word Search Daily a calm break that fits between other things.
How to play
Press a letter and drag in a straight line to the last letter of a word on the list, then lift. Tap the first and last letter also works, and on a keyboard use the arrow keys to move, Space to start a line, Enter to submit, Esc to cancel and H for a hint. Words that are not on the list but are real words of four or more letters earn bonus coins. When all words are found, unscramble the secret word from the leftover letters.

- Is the daily puzzle the same for everyone?
- Yes. The daily grid, theme and secret word depend only on the date in UTC, so everyone gets the same puzzle, and a new one appears at 00:00 UTC.
- What are bonus words?
- Any real English word of four or more letters that you trace along a straight line, even if it is not on the list. Each pays a hint coin, up to ten coins per puzzle.
- Does my progress save?
- Yes. Stars, coins, your streak and the puzzle you were in the middle of are saved on this device, and to your account when you are signed in.
- Why is there no filler in the grid?
- Every letter is part of a theme word or of the secret word. That is why the leftover letters can spell the secret.
