About Mahjong Garden
Mahjong Garden is a free online tile matching puzzle you can play in your browser on a phone, tablet or computer. The board is a single flat layer of garden tiles: flowers, fruit, bees, birds and tools. Tap two tiles that show the same picture, and if a path can join them, a green vine grows between the two, they lift away in a puff of petals, and your own garden grows a little.
The twist is the path. Two matching tiles only connect when a line of straight segments with at most two turns can run between them through empty cells. The line may also leave the board and run around its edge, so tiles on the outside rows are easy to reach while tiles in the middle wait for space to open up. Every pair you clear opens new paths and changes which pairs are possible next, so the puzzle is always about choosing the right pair first.
The game has four gardens of ten levels, and each garden adds a new rule. In the Drift garden, tiles above a gap fall down to fill it after every clear. Vines block cells until you clear pairs next to them, which wilts them and finally opens the way. Blossom tiles score triple points and plant flowers in your garden, and in the Breeze levels tiles blow to the left after each clear. The last garden adds stones that never move and mixes up to three rules on a single board. A Daily bed with a new random mix of rules waits every day.
Every pair you clear adds growth to your garden on the map screen. Twelve beds grow from seedlings into full flowering shrubs, blossom pairs plant flowers, and your garden never resets, so there is always a reason to come back. Stars unlock new tile backs, and seven achievements and two leaderboards track your best results.
Tips: clear straight and one-turn pairs quickly, because they score more and a quick chain of clears within four seconds adds bonus points. Look along the outer rows first, where paths can use the edge. When all four tiles of a kind are on the board, think about which two belong together before you tap. On drift and breeze levels, watch where tiles will slide before you clear a pair. Save the hint for when you are truly stuck, since it costs points and a perfect three-star clear needs no help.
Every board is dealt so that it can be cleared, so a stuck board is a puzzle to rethink, and if no pair at all is left the game shuffles for free. A level takes about one to four minutes, plays instantly with no download, and your progress saves automatically, even in the middle of a level.

FAQ
- Why won't two matching tiles connect?
- The path between them needs more than two turns, or something blocks it. Paths can only cross empty cells or run around the outside edge of the board. Clear other pairs to open the way.
- Can every board be solved?
- Yes. Every board is dealt with a known way to clear it, including the levels where tiles drift and blow after each clear. If no pair at all is left, the game shuffles the remaining tiles for free.
- How does scoring work?
- Each pair is worth 10 points, plus 5 for a straight path and 2 for a path with one turn. Clearing pairs within four seconds of each other builds a quick chain worth up to 25 extra points per pair, and blossom pairs score triple. Finishing under par adds a time bonus. Hints cost 30 points and every shuffle after the first free one costs 50.
- How do I get three stars?
- Clear the board in less than the par time without using a hint or a paid shuffle. Finishing under par with help gives two stars, and any clear gives one.
- Does my progress save?
- Yes. Your stars, best scores, garden and the level you are playing are saved on this device after every pair, and to your account when you are signed in.
- Is Mahjong Garden free, and does it work on iPhone?
- Yes, it is free to play in any modern browser on iPhone, Android, tablets and computers, with touch, mouse or keyboard.
