Eights Up Free Crazy Eights card game against bots

About Eights Up
Eights Up is the classic shedding card game, usually known as Crazy Eights, free to play in your browser on a phone, tablet or computer. There is nothing to install and no account to make: open the page and the cards are dealt. You sit at a table with one, two or three bots, and the aim is simple: be the first to get rid of every card in your hand.
On your turn, play a card that matches the top card of the pile by suit or by rank. An 8 is wild. It matches anything, and when you play one you pop open a ring of four suits and name the suit the next player has to follow. If you have no card to play, tap the draw pile and cards are drawn until one fits. The cards you can play lift and glow, the others are dimmed, so you always see your options at a glance. When a player is down to one card, a Last card callout warns the whole table.
When someone goes out, the round is scored. The winner collects the points left in every other hand: 50 for each 8, 10 for each face card and the ten, and pip value for the rest, with the ace worth one. The first player to reach 100 points wins the match, or play a quick match to 50.
Your opponents have names and habits. Mabel is cautious: sheds big cards first and hoards eights for later. Dash is aggressive: loves a power card and cuts in with an 8 the moment you are close to out. Fig is sneaky: hides eights in the hand, then names the suit you cannot follow. Pick Easy, Normal or Hard bots. Hard bots plan several plays ahead and notice which suits a player could not match.
Make the table your own with optional twists. Turn on the action cards and a 2 makes the next player pick up two cards, a Queen skips a player and an Ace turns the play around. Let 2s stack so the pick-up keeps growing, or switch to the draw one then pass rule for a faster game. Win matches to unlock new card backs, collect achievements, and keep your stats for games, rounds and eights played out.
Tips: keep your eights for when nothing else fits, but play them without fear when you are down to two cards. Name the suit you hold most of. Shed your high cards early, because every card left in your hand costs points if someone else goes out first. Use the Hint button to see a strong play and why it works. A match to 100 takes about ten minutes, and your game in progress is saved automatically.
How to play
Tap a glowing card to play it: it must match the top card by suit or by rank. An 8 is wild: play it, then tap the suit you want next. If nothing fits, tap the draw pile. Be the first to empty your hand and you score the points left in the other hands (8 = 50, face cards = 10, the rest their pips). The first to 100 wins the match. Hint shows a good play and why. On a keyboard use the arrow keys, Enter or Space to play, D to draw, H for a hint and X to pass; with the suit picker open press S, H, D or C. P or Esc pauses and M mutes.

FAQ
- What does an 8 do?
- An 8 is wild. You can play it on any card, and you name the suit the next player must match. The next player can also answer with another 8.
- What if I cannot play a card?
- Tap the draw pile. By default you keep drawing until you pick up a card you can play. In Options you can switch to draw one card and then pass. When the pile runs out, the played cards are shuffled and used again.
- How is a round scored?
- The winner of the round collects the points left in everyone else's hands. An 8 is worth 50, a jack, queen, king or ten is worth 10, and the other cards are worth their number, with the ace worth 1. The first player to reach the target of 100 (or 50 in a quick match) wins.
- What are the action cards?
- They are an optional set of twists in Options. A 2 makes the next player pick up two cards, a Queen skips the next player and an Ace turns the direction of play around. You can also let 2s stack, so the next player can answer a 2 with another 2 and the pick-up grows.
- Does my game save?
- Yes. The match in progress, your stats, achievements and unlocked card backs are saved on this device, and to your account when you are signed in. You can close the page and continue later.
- How do the bots differ?
- Mabel plays cautiously and keeps the eights back, Dash plays aggressively and attacks with power cards, and Fig is sneaky and names suits you cannot follow. The level you pick sets how sharp they are: Easy makes mistakes, Hard plans ahead.
