Hearts The free Hearts card game against three bots
Play Hearts against three bots with their own styles. Pass cards, dodge the Queen of Spades, shoot the moon and try the daily deal.
About Hearts
Hearts is the classic trick-taking card game, free to play in your browser on a phone, tablet or computer. There is nothing to install and no account to make: open the page and the cards are dealt. You sit at a table with three bots and try to finish with the fewest points, because every heart you take costs one point and the Queen of Spades costs thirteen.
Each hand starts with a pass. Pick three cards and send them left, right or across, then keep your hand on the fourth hand, and the pass rotates every time. The player holding the Two of Clubs leads the first trick. You must follow the suit that was led if you can, and the highest card of that suit takes the trick and leads the next one. Hearts cannot be led until a heart has been played, and there are no points on the very first trick. When all thirteen tricks are played the score table counts up, and the game ends when someone reaches the target score of 50 for a quick game or 100 for the classic game. The lowest score wins.
Your opponents have names and habits. Wren is cautious and ducks every trick she can. Brick is aggressive and leads low spades to flush out the queen. Luna is a moon-shooter who will try to take every heart and the Queen of Spades when her hand is strong, which scores 26 against everyone else. Pick Easy, Normal or Hard bots: Hard bots track which suits each player has run out of, drop the queen on the right trick, and block anyone who runs away with the moon.
Cards are easy to play on a small screen. Tap a card once to raise it and again to play it, or drag it up onto the table. Cards you cannot play are dimmed, and if you tap one anyway it tells you why. The Hint button outlines the card a strong player would choose and explains the reason in one line, so you learn as you win. Undo takes back your last card in practice games, and Last trick shows the previous trick again.
Every day there is a new daily deal: four hands from one shared deck of shuffled cards against Normal bots, the same for every player. It has no undo, and your daily score compares your points with the table average. Your best score of the day is kept, you build a daily streak, and the score goes to the leaderboard. Win games to unlock new card backs, and keep stats for games, wins, hands and moons shot.
Tips: pass your highest cards and the Queen of Spades unless you hold a long spade suit to protect her. Try to empty a short suit so you can discard dangerous cards later. Lead low cards early and keep an eye on which suits the bots are out of. If one player has taken most of the points, think about taking a heart yourself to stop them shooting the moon. A game to 100 takes about 15 minutes and your game in progress is saved automatically.
How to play
Tap a card to raise it, tap it again to play it, or drag it up onto the table. At the start of a hand pick three cards and tap Pass. You must follow the suit that was led. The highest card of that suit takes the trick. Hearts are 1 point each and the Queen of Spades is 13; the lowest score wins. Take all 26 points to shoot the moon. Hint explains a good play, Undo takes back your last card (not in the daily), and Last trick shows the previous trick. On a keyboard use the arrow keys, Enter or Space, H, U and L; P or Esc pauses and M mutes.

FAQ
- What does shooting the moon mean?
- If you take every heart and the Queen of Spades in one hand, you score 0 and each other player gets 26 points. In Options you can change it so the shooter scores minus 26 instead, or turn the rule off.
- Why can't I play a certain card?
- You must follow the suit that was led when you can. Hearts cannot be led until a heart has been played, the Two of Clubs leads the first trick, and no points can be played on the first trick unless you have nothing else. Tapping a dimmed card tells you which rule applies.
- Is the daily deal the same for everyone?
- Yes. Each day's four hands are dealt from the date, so every player gets the same cards against the same Normal bots. Undo is off in the daily and each hint costs 5 points of score.
- Does my game save?
- Yes. The game in progress, your stats, daily results and unlocked card backs are saved on this device, and to your account when you are signed in. You can close the page and continue later.
- How do the bots differ?
- Wren plays cautiously and avoids every trick, Brick hunts the Queen of Spades with low spades, and Luna goes for the moon on strong hands. The level you pick sets how sharp they are: Easy makes slips, Hard counts cards.
