About Golf Solitaire
Golf Solitaire is the quick card game where the lowest score wins, free to play on your phone, tablet or computer. Thirty-five cards are dealt face up into seven columns of five. Turn up a card from the stock to start the waste pile, then play the bottom card of any column that is one rank higher or lower than the card on the waste: a six goes onto a five or a seven, and the suit never matters. Every card you play becomes the new card to follow. When nothing fits, draw from the stock. There is nothing to install and no account to make: open the page and the first hole is dealt.
A hole ends when the columns are empty, or when nothing can be played and the stock has run out. Your score for the hole is the number of cards left on the table, and lower is better. Clear all thirty-five and you have swept the hole. By default a king only goes next to a queen and an ace only next to a two, so a king blocks the chain; you can switch on the K-A wrap-around for an easier game in free rounds.
A round is nine holes. Every hole has a par: the number of cards left by a sensible player who cannot see the stock and always plays the longest chain on the table, so par is a score you can beat or match with good play. When a hole ends, the summary also shows the best possible, the fewest cards a solver could leave if it knew every card in the stock, so you can see what was reachable and what was luck. The scorecard at the bottom of the screen fills in as you go: gold for a swept hole, green for par, and blue or red for a few or many strokes over. Finish the round for a star, finish within twenty-seven strokes of par for a second and within nine for a third. Stars unlock new card backs and course scenes.
The daily round is the same nine holes for every player, changes at midnight UTC and keeps a streak of days in a row. Free rounds deal nine new holes whenever you like. Every card played in a row without drawing raises a streak multiplier up to times five, and the points go to the leaderboard, so a long chain feels as good as a low score. Stats track your best round against par, holes swept, holes at par and your longest streak.
Tips: before you draw, look for the play that opens the longest chain, because the card you take decides what can follow. Keep an eye on both ends of a run, since a card one rank away on either side keeps it alive. Count how many of a rank are left in the columns, and try not to bury a card you still need under a draw. Use the hint button when you are stuck: it shows the first move of the best line the solver found. A round takes about five to ten minutes, and your progress, the hole in play and your settings are saved automatically.
How to play
Tap a column to play its bottom card onto the waste pile if it is one rank higher or lower than the waste card (suits do not matter). A king goes only next to a queen and an ace only next to a two unless the K-A option is on. If nothing fits, tap the stock to draw a new waste card; that ends your streak. When nothing can be played and the stock is empty the hole is over, and your score is the number of cards left: lower is better, and par is what a sensible player who cannot see the stock would leave. A round is nine holes. On a keyboard, the arrow keys pick a column, Enter or Space plays it, D draws, U or Ctrl+Z undoes, H shows a hint, P or Esc pauses and M mutes.

FAQ
- What is par?
- Par is the number of cards left by a sensible player who cannot see the stock: the longest chain of plays on the table every time, and a draw only when nothing fits. Matching it is a good hole and beating it is a great one. The hole summary also shows the best possible, which a solver finds by knowing every card in the stock. Deals where even the best possible leaves more than six cards, or par is above eight, are not used.
- How is the score counted?
- The golf score of a hole is the number of cards left in the columns when it ends, and a round adds up its nine holes. Separately, every card played in a row earns streak points that go to the leaderboard.
- Do kings and aces connect?
- Not by default: a king only goes next to a queen and an ace only next to a two. You can switch on the K-A option in the menu for free rounds. The daily round always uses the default rule so that everyone plays the same game.
- How do I earn three stars?
- Finish all nine holes for the first star, finish within 27 strokes of par for the second and within 9 for the third. Stars unlock card backs and course scenes, and a daily round only adds the stars you improve on.
- How many hints do I get?
- Three on every hole. After that you can watch a short ad for three more, once per hole.
- Is my progress saved?
- Yes. The round in progress, your stars, daily results and settings are saved on this device automatically, and to your Playora account when you are signed in.
