About Spider Solitaire
Spider Solitaire is the two-deck patience game, free to play in your browser on a phone, tablet or computer. One hundred and four cards are dealt into ten columns with only the top card of each face up, and fifty more wait in the stock. Your goal is to build eight complete runs from king down to ace, each in a single suit. When a full run comes together it lifts off the table on its own and joins the rack at the top.
The rules are simple and the decisions are not. Any card can go on a card one rank higher, whatever its suit, but only a run of one suit moves together. Every move asks a question: which mixed pile do you untangle first, is it worth breaking a run of one suit to turn over a hidden card, and when should you empty a column instead of dealing ten new cards from the stock? You can't deal while a column is empty, so open columns are precious; any card or run can go into one.
Pick your challenge. One suit plays every card as a spade and is the gentle start. Two suits mixes spades and hearts, and four suits is the full classic test. Two suits opens after your first one-suit win, and four suits after your first two-suit win. Every day there is a daily deal for each suit count, the same for every player, and a solver has won each of them before it is offered. Early in the week the one-suit daily is a shorter deal. Every deal shows three star goals: win it, win within par, and win without undo.
Stars add up across all deals and unlock four moonlit card backs and two extra table felts. A month calendar keeps your daily stars, winning a daily on consecutive days builds your streak, and stats for each suit count track wins, win rate, best time and fewest moves. Scores go to the leaderboard: a point for each card joined to its own suit, five for every card you turn over, 150 for every run, and a win bonus that grows the faster you finish, multiplied for two and four suits.
Tips: turn over hidden cards early, starting with the shortest columns, because an empty column is the strongest tool in the game. Join cards in the same suit whenever you can, since mixed piles are hard to move later. Before you deal from the stock, tidy up so that the new cards land on piles you can still sort out. And if you are stuck, a hint shows the next move the solver would make.
Tap a card and it goes to its best spot, so even ten narrow columns on a phone are easy to play. Your deal in progress, stars, stats and settings save automatically.
How to play
Tap or click a card to move it, with the cards on top of it, to its best spot: onto the next-higher card of the same suit if there is one, otherwise onto any card one rank higher, otherwise into an empty column. Tap again to try the next spot, or drag cards instead. Only runs of one suit in descending order move together. Tap the stock to deal one card onto every column; you can't deal while a column is empty. A king-to-ace run of one suit lifts off by itself; lift all eight to win. On a keyboard, the left and right arrows pick a column, up and down pick a card, Enter or Space moves it, D deals, U or Ctrl+Z undoes, H shows a hint, P or Esc pauses and M mutes.

FAQ
- Is every deal winnable?
- The daily deals are: a solver has won each of them before they are offered. Random one- and two-suit deals are checked by the solver when Winnable only is on. Four-suit random deals are shuffled freely and say so unless the solver proves them in time.
- What is the difference between 1, 2 and 4 suits?
- With one suit every card plays as a spade, so any descending run can move together. Two suits mixes spades and hearts, and four suits uses all four, which makes runs much harder to build. Higher suit counts multiply your score by 1.5 or 2.
- How do I earn three stars?
- Win the deal, finish within the par move count shown at the top, and don't use undo. Dealing from the stock does not count as a move. Each goal is one star, and stars unlock card backs and table felts.
- Why can't I deal from the stock?
- In Spider every column must hold at least one card before you deal. Move any card or run into the empty column first.
- How many hints do I get?
- Three per deal. After that you can watch a short ad for three more, once per deal.
- Is my game saved?
- Yes. The deal in progress, your stats, stars and daily calendar are saved on this device automatically, and to your Playora account when you are signed in.
