Hoop Flick A free basketball game: flick shots against the clock

Flick the ball up the court and sink as many shots as you can in 60 seconds. Three swishes in a row set the ball on fire.

About Hoop Flick

Hoop Flick is a free online basketball flick game you can play in your browser on a phone, tablet or computer. You stand on a sunset rooftop court, the hoop is up the screen, and the ball waits at your feet. Swipe up to shoot: the ball arcs away from you, shrinks with distance, and either drops through the net with a satisfying swish or clangs off the rim. A fresh ball appears a moment later, so the game never stops and every shot is a new decision.

In Arcade you have 60 seconds. Every make adds points: two for a shot that touches the rim, three for a clean swish or a bank off the glass, and one extra for shooting from the far spot. Make three swishes in a row and the ball catches fire. While it burns, every make is worth double, and a trail of embers follows the ball. A miss puts the fire out, so the pressure is on. Every five makes in a row also adds three seconds to the clock, up to fifteen per run.

The hoop does not stay put. For the first ten makes it stands still, so you can find your range. Then it starts to slide from side to side, then it bobs closer and further away, and finally it moves faster while you also shoot from the left, the right and the far spot. If you miss three in a row the next ball comes from the centre and the hoop slows down for one shot, so a cold streak never snowballs.

The Daily Challenge gives everyone the same twenty balls, with the same hoop patterns, the same ball spots and the same wind gusts, and no clock. Earn bronze, silver or gold, keep your daily streak going and fill your medal calendar. Practice mode has no clock, a still hoop and an aim line, so it is the best place to learn how hard to flick.

Swipe length and speed set the power, and the angle of your swipe sets the aim. The mapping is the same on every screen size, so a flick that works on a small phone works on a big tablet. On a computer you can click and drag, or use the arrow keys to aim and hold Space to fill the power meter.

Tips: you do not need to swipe hard, a smooth medium flick straight up is the shot the hoop wants. Aim a little behind the rim when the hoop is moving towards you, and lead a sliding hoop by flicking where it will be, not where it is. Bank shots off the backboard count as three points, so a slightly strong flick is not a waste. Play the daily once a day to unlock new ball and court styles, and keep a swish streak going to reach Inferno.

How to play

Swipe up from the ball to shoot. The angle of your swipe aims the shot, and a longer, faster swipe throws harder. With a mouse, click and drag up from the ball and let go. On a keyboard, move the aim marker with the Left and Right arrows (or A and D), hold Space to fill the power meter and release to shoot. Swishes score 3, banks 3, rim shots 2, the far spot adds 1, and three swishes in a row light the ball for double points. P or Esc pauses and M mutes.

FAQ

How do I shoot?
Swipe up from the ball. The direction of the swipe is the direction of the shot, and how fast and far you swipe is how hard it is thrown. On a computer you can click and drag, or aim with the arrow keys and hold Space to charge a power meter.
How does scoring work?
A shot that touches the rim and drops in is 2 points. A swish (nothing but net) or a bank off the backboard is 3. Shooting from the far spot adds 1. While the ball is on fire every make counts double.
How do I set the ball on fire?
Make three swishes in a row, with no rim or backboard contact. The next makes score double until you miss. Make ten in one fire streak for the Inferno achievement.
What is the Daily Challenge?
Twenty balls with a fixed sequence of hoop patterns, ball spots and wind gusts that is the same for everyone on the same date. There is no clock. Score 30 for bronze, 45 for silver and 60 for gold, and play seven days in a row for the Daily shooter achievement.
How do I get more time?
Every five makes in a row adds 3 seconds, up to 15 seconds per run. When time is up you can also watch a short ad once per run for 10 extra seconds.
Does my progress save?
Yes. Your best score, streaks, total makes, daily medals and unlocked ball and court styles are saved on this device, and to your account when you are signed in.
